Matthew Toro, who created the maps and animations on Miami’s flooding, discusses his ideas on resilience and HighWaterLine with Resilient Miami.
“When I was putting together the maps, I was in disbelief. I had to continually recheck the data to make sure that I was doing it right and verify that the Miami neighborhoods that I was seeing inundated by water were actually going to be so severely flooded. I was in disbelief. A part of me still doesn’t want to believe it. It’s scary but its also encouraging because it has the power to bring people together.”
“It needs to become commonplace for our collective society. We need to have conversations during coffee and during dinner.”
